Obtaining the DOFF Integra and training our operatives to use such an incredible, non-destructive cleaning system was paramount in our continued efforts to move ahead in our industry.

The DOFF system allows for effortless cleaning of grade listed buildings, with no damage to the stonework whatsoever. This system can be utilised using rope access techniques, there is no building too high for us to clean!

Please see below FAQ’s and should you have any additional questions, please get in touch.

What is DOFF?

The DOFF Integra is a market leading, expertly engineered system that utilises a normal water supply to remove some of the more resistant forms of unwanted matter from a range of surfaces.

The DOFF Integra is an advancement of the original DOFF Standard, providing greater ease of operation – eg improved manoeuvrability, quick release of modular components, digital displays and easy loading. The water supply is fed via a pump into a hot-box where it is rapidly heated to temperatures of up to 150℃. The heated water is then fed through high temperature heat resistant hoses to the special nozzle at a rate of between 3 to 5 litres per minute. Once cleaned, the surface dries within minutes which prevents any long-term damage as a result of trapped moisture

What is the DOFF most effective in removing?

Paint coatings (most oil and plastic types) Certain types of graffiti Bird or vermin fouling Algae, moss, and fungi Wax coatings Chewing gum Bitumen, Oil, Grease and many others, all without causing any damage or disfiguring the substrate.

What surfaces should I use the DOFF on?

We recommend the DOFF for use on surfaces such as brick, stone, concrete, tiled (glazed and encaustic), wood, faience and terracotta. It is a useful sterilisation tool for kitchens, toilets, swimming pools, hospitals and factories.

Where can I use DOFF?

DOFF can be used in Building restoration, Industry, Food production, Hygiene control, Hospitals, Factories, Transport & vehicle depots, Workshops etc.

How does DOFF work?

A normal water supply is taken through the pump into the Hotbox, where a range of temperatures of up to 150º C can be achieved. The low volume of super heated water and steam (5 litres per minute) is then fed through heat resistant hoses to special nozzles where a genuine 150º C is delivered. The surface being cleaned does not suffer any damaging pressure, thermal shock or deep saturation and dries within minutes. A range of different lances and nozzles are available.

Fan Deck Scaffolding Services Saving You Money

The extremely technical suspended fan deck scaffold that we install here at Crown Services is unique and often results in passers-by, including scaffolding companies, stopping to take photos and ask questions such as “How did you get that up there?”.

That’s the trick and why we are so unique. We utilise rope access techniques to drop down from the roof, then tether all equipment when dropping down. Aluminium tubes and fittings are hoisted up then specialist frames and beams are punched up into the building and safely pull tested to the supplier’s recommendations, say 7kN. From there the full structure can be set up and boarded on any building, anywhere! Magic!!

Fan Deck Scaffold

Crown Services fan deck scaffold. On all our projects we supply all necessary labour, plant and equipment in order to safely undertake the works. Upon arrival to site all safety equipment is worn for the duration of the contract, the minimum requirement being safety helmet, safety footwear, coveralls, light eye protection, gloves and safety harness. For any activities that require physical movement above ground level, a safety harness must be worn and always attached to a secure anchor point.

Before use our operatives visually and physically check all ladders, ropes and associated fixings ensuring that there are no defects showing with the equipment.

Fan deck scaffolds are structures attached to the perimeter of a building or scaffolding to prevent objects that may accidentally fall from the structure causing damage or injury to the property or pedestrians below. The fan consists of a structure jutting out from the scaffolding, which is fitted with decking boards to catch falling debris. They are inclined towards the scaffolding and can be utilised on projects in towns and cities where the scaffolding is situated directly above the busy public pavement or road.

In practice, types of fan deck scaffolds commonly used by industry appear to be used for protection against any possible falling debris that may arise from work being carried out on the scaffolding, its construction and repair work. This may range from paint splashes to masonry and scaffolding components. There is also generally only one fan per scaffolding, situated low down on the structure. A typical example of one our fan deck scaffolding projects is depicted below, please click to enlarge pictures.

Flue Liner Installation and Height Extension

Christie Hospital in Manchester is a prestigious inner-city hospital with a 32mtr high circular brick chimney, presenting the problem of insufficient dimensions to accommodate the ever increasing demands of the hospital.

Due to the vast expansion of the hospital, the heating demands accelerated to a critical stage prompting a completely new strategy that would have to be acceptable to the local enforcement authority. Our proposals were submitted, and complete acceptance was granted; to install four individual internal 39mtrs high mild steel flue liners, terminated with a 7mtr high steel extension which was fibre-glass coated to match the original brickwork.

To accommodate the specific design criteria, dump stacks were installed and utilised. The top 6mtrs of brickwork had to be removed for the introduction of an inter-connecting mild steel collar, and then the brickwork was rebuilt to compact the collar for the introduction of the 7mtr high extension. An independent internal strengthening system was also installed, bridging over the circular and octagonal transition point.

New flue entry apertures were drilled into the brickwork and, with the aid of a 140 tonne crane, the 4NO individual 39mtr high flue liners were installed, the 7mtr high extension and the closure plate were fitted, all within a 48hour period. This was executed in a safe and controlled procedure without interference to hospital staff and to the complete satisfaction to all concerned.
