Roches Stores Cork Ireland – High Rise Project
Roches Stores Cork Ireland. Debenhams Roches Stores asked us to inspect the dome roof and report all findings. After our inspection we found this 1920’s building was in need of several repairs which included copper cladding to the dome roof, removal and replacement of roof slates, gutter and roof cleaning, removal and render of brickwork around the downpipe restoring to original design and secure or replace lead wedges.
Cork city council granted us a licence to erect a plastic barrier on the street below whilst working on the dome roof. Crown Services are fully accredited and always ensure we meet all health and safety requirements during all projects. Working at such height we ensure all work will be carried out without any disruption to the running of the daily building, whilst keeping the area safe. We reported our survey repair concerns and carried out the following services and repairs.
High Rise Roof Slate Tile Repairs
We identified there were several slipped or missing slates on the roof. In the future this could cause expensive leak repairs and also be a danger to the public walking below. We repaired and replaced all tiles ensuring the area was watertight and secure. We gained access to the roof using our scaffolding services.
High Rise Gutter Cleaning
On inspection we discovered all gutters were blocked and needed debris clearing and cleaning. This is due to weather conditions on all high rise buildings and should be inspected regularly to ensure no further issues occur. We cleared all gutters of debris and returned to perfect working order.
Repair Cladding & Fixings To Dome Roof
The dome cladding had become dislodged over time due to the age of the building. We replaced new copper fixings to restore the dome to its original design. We secured all lead flashings with new lead roll and copper clips, utilising our scaffolding services and specialised rope access techniques to gain access to the dome roof.
Removal & Repair Fractured Brickwork
Our survey identified on the south elevation of the dome roof that fractured brickwork was visible around the downpipe. The brickwork was loose and could be a danger in high winds. We carefully removed the fractured render/brickwork and returned to its original design. On all high rise building maintenance projects we can reach any hard to reach areas.

Roches Stores Roof Pathways Clearing
The pathways to gain access to the roof dome were full of debris and in need of clearing to carry out the work on this project. On any project we take on, we ensure that after all works are complete the area is clean and tidy. In most cases the roof of any building has not been used for considerable time, therefore they need to be cleaned and inspected for any issues which may cause problems in the future.
